 Job Shadow Experience 

Welcome to the Upstate University Hospital Job Shadow Program! If you're a student or aspiring healthcare professional looking to gain experience and insight into the medical field, you've come to the right place.

Our program offers a unique opportunity to shadow healthcare professionals in a hospital setting, allowing you to observe and learn from experts in various departments. Whether you're considering a career in medicine and want to explore different healthcare specialties, or you are considering Upstate as an option of education or employment our program will provide you with a valuable experience. Shadow Experience Requirements:

• You must be 16 or older, except for placement in the OR, Emergency Department, Cancer Center Infusion, and OB/GYN: where minimum age of 18 is required

• Shadowing is typically a one day experience; one day of shadowing can consist of only a few hours or an all-day (8 hours) experience. 

• Maximum of 3 Shadow Experiences per applicant.

• Participant will only observe, without any hands-on interaction with a patient, medical equipment, medical records, computers, and will not enter an area of contamination such as isolation rooms, soiled linen areas, etc.

• Must be a non-nursing position.
